Virginia Beach Veterinary Hospital’s Pet Surgery

Full service OR

We understand that surgery can be a source of anxiety for you and your family. That’s why it’s important to trust the people who will be taking care of your pet. Our team is welltrained to ensure that the entire process is handled with compassion and the best care.

Before any procedure, we’ll make sure you have all of the information you need. This includes instructions for the night before a procedure and the day-of schedule. Our state-of-the-art operating room has equipment similar to what is used at human hospitals. A dedicated nurse will monitor your pet during the entire surgery to ensure safe anesthesia. We monitor your pet’s oxygen level, heart rate, EKG, temperature, CO2 level, and blood pressure. Once the surgery is over, our team will stay with your pet to ensure a smooth recovery and provide some TLC.

After the procedure, we’ll be sure to provide you with the take-home instructions to make sure your pet heals properly. Please know that we’re just a call away if you have any questions at all.

Progressive multi-modal anesthesia protocol

Multimodal anesthesia is designed to minimize the overall dosage of one anesthetic drug for any given patient. Utilizing different techniques, anesthetics, and dosages across different sites of the patient’s body will, in turn, reduce the overall likelihood of side effects such as hypotension and apnea. Our staff is highly experienced across a range of anesthetics and their proper usage to ensure your pet’s chronic pain is kept to a minimum as much as possible during surgery.

Full monitoring capabilities

Your pet’s health and wellbeing are our number one priority. From the moment they walk in the door to the end of their procedure, our dedicated staff will be monitoring your pet to ensure everything goes according to plan. Your pet will be under our care throughout their stay in our hospital.
