Virginia Beach Veterinary Hospital’s Pet Diagnostic Imaging

In-house radiography

Radiology (xrays) is routinely used to provide valuable information about a pet’s bones, gastrointestinal tract (stomach, intestines, colon), respiratory tract (lungs), heart, and genitourinary system (bladder, prostate). When conducting inhouse radiography, our team uses twilight sedation.

Off-site and in-house abdominal ultrasound and echocardiogram

We offer inhouse abdominal ultrasounds as well as echocardiography. An abdominal ultrasound is a noninvasive way to take a closer look at the internal organs in the abdomen. While an Xray will take a single image of all structures overlying one another, ultrasound allows us to look at each organ’s architecture individually. With ultrasound, we can evaluate the liver, gallbladder, spleen, adrenal glands, pancreas, stomach, intestines, kidneys, bladder, and more in a detailed way. For a sick pet, this can help us determine what might be making your pet feel ill and give us clues as to whether the problem is inflammatory, infectious, or cancerous.
